Upcoming Upazila Parishad elections in Jaldhaka have been completed in a fair, free and impartial manner without any untoward incident. Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Executive Officer GR Sarwar, Jaldhaka Thana Officer in-charge Nazrul Islam successfully completed Jaldhaka Upazila Parishad elections by taking continuous polls from 8 am to 4 pm on Tuesday, May 21st. The entire upazila is covered with a five-level administrative security belt for the purpose of fair elections. Along with this, the patrol cars of BGB, RAB and police forces were always active in the public places and on the roads. As a result, the upazila administration and election office were able to complete the election without any untoward incident. According to the information received by the Upazila Returning Officer, prominent contractor and businessman Anshar Ali Mintu, former president of Upazila Awami League, has been unofficially elected as Jaldhaka Upazila Parishad Chairman in the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections. He got 39 thousand 64 votes with horse image and his closest rival Upazila Jasad general secretary and two-time vice chairman Golam Azam Elich got 31 thousand 46 votes with motorcycle image. On the other hand, the current Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdul Waheed Bahadur got 21 thousand 836 votes with shrimp and fish icon in the third place and the current Upazila Awami League General Secretary and former UP Chairman of Khutamara Union Parishad Abu Saeed Shamim got 5 thousand votes with pineapple icon. 6 hundred and 5 votes. On the other hand, although there was a contest between three men for the post of male vice chairman, General Secretary of Upazila Truck Trunk Lodi Labor Union and Awami Jubo League leader Shahinur Rahman got 48 thousand 335 votes and his nearest rival was Awami Jubo League leader. Manowar Hossain Liton received 23 thousand 882 votes with Chashma Pratik. Japa leader Noor Alam is in third place22 thousand 8 hundred and 32 votes were received with Tala Pratika. Along with that, four people competed for the post of female vice chairman, but Manwara Begum was elected as the female vice chairman for the second time. He got 44 thousand 838 votes with football symbol and his closest rival Anita Rani Roy got 27 thousand 5 hundred 29 votes with pitcher symbol. Rahena Begum is in third place. He got 12 thousand 658 votes with Prajapati Pratika and Masuma Kibria Seema is in fourth place. He got 1 thousand 125 votes with duck symbol. Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer G. And Nazrul Islam, officer in charge of Sarowar and Jaldhaka Police Station, said that in the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections, voting was held in 1 hundred and 5 polling stations and the number of booths in all these polling stations was 741. Voters exercised their right to vote in a fair, free, impartial and very peaceful festive atmosphere without any untoward incident. Several levels of security were taken by the administration to make the elections fair. As a result, the upazila administration was able to present a beautiful election. District Returning Officer Jahangir Hossain said,The total number of voters in this upazila is 2 lakh 80 thousand 2 hundred and 39 people. Among them, the number of male voters is 1 lakh 43 thousand 59 people and the number of female voters is 1 lakh 37 thousand 1 hundred 79 people. On the other hand, Upazila Election Officer Ali Hossain said that the peace-loving people of the region have given a beautiful Upazila Parishad election in a very peaceful and festive atmosphere. The total vote cast in Jaldhaka Upazila Parishad elections held in the upcoming 6th phase is 35.605℅.
